Dave Fulton

Dave Fulton, Vice President of Himalayan Designs, and importer of these products, graduated from Princeton University in 1967 in Medieval History and Art History, concentrating on the history of art and architecture in Europe between the 12th and 15th centuries.  Immediately thereafter, he joined the Peace Corps and was stationed until 1970 in Piuthan, a remote district in Western Nepal. There he was assigned to the local district government to make roads and drinking-water systems.  During this period, he developed a great appreciation for the crafts and art of the Newars. On returning to the United States, he recieved a Master’s Degree in Urban Studies from Occidental and became a Transportation Planner with the San Francisco Department of City Planning.  In 1980, he started a contracting business in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  During this period, hwever, he maintained close ties with his old District, Piuthan, and Nepal in general. Dave and his wife, Margaret, have an adopted daughter from Nepal. They also have a Nepali nursing student living with them who is the daughter of Mr. Fulton’s counterpart during his Peace Corps years.

His wife, Margaret, is an attorney, and Vice President of Himalayan Designs in charge of marketing.

Dave Fulton speaks fluent Nepali and is Chairman of the Board of Ama Ghar, an orphanage in Kathmandu.
